2011 – 2013 Election


RUNOFF VOTE - June 28th through June 29th


Thank you for your participation as a Selector in the 2011 Community and Citywide Education Council Elections. After further analysis of the initial election results, it has been determined that additional run-off elections are needed in various districts.

From June 28th to June 29, 2011, additional run-off elections will be held ONLINE at www.powertotheparents.org. You can cast your ballot anytime, day or night, during this voting period from any computer with internet access.

As before, this document includes everything you will need to know in order to cast your official run-off vote. When you log in online at powertotheparents.org, the results from the relevant parent advisory vote and the candidate biographical details will be available for your reference.

Thank you again for your participation and support thus far during the Community and Citywide Education Council Elections, and I encourage you to cast your vote during the Selector’s Run-Off Vote.

HOW TO CAST YOUR VOTE:

  1. Go on the internet to www.powertotheparents.org.
  2. Click the button on the screen that says “VOTE.”
  3. Type in your unique “Voting ID” and “Password,” which were previously provided. Please note this is the same information that you used to vote during the official Selector’s Voting period that was held from May 27th through June 3rd. If you need to be reminded of your Voting ID and Password, please contact the Office for Family Information and Action at 212-374-4118.
  4. When the candidate list appears, click on “DETAILS” to read more about each candidate, and click the box next to the name of candidates for which you want to vote. You will only be permitted to cast one (1) vote.
  5. Click the button that says “NEXT” to see the information regarding the candidate you have selected.
  6. Click “SUBMIT” to cast your vote.

SELECTORS
Community Education Council

In accordance with Chancellor’s Regulation D-140, Selectors of the parent members of each CEC shall be the three PA/PTA officers mandated by Chancellor’s Regulation A-660 from every school located in the community school district (i.e., President, Secretary, and Treasurer). Presidents and officers of PAs/PTAs who are candidates in the selection process shall not be eligible to cast votes in the selection process. The PA/PTA shall select a member to vote in the place of each such president or officer for the purposes of the selection process. In the case of co-presidents, co-secretaries, or co-treasurers, the remaining members of the PA/PTA executive board will determine which co-officer will serve as a selector.

Citywide Council on High Schools
In accordance with Chancellor’s Regulation D-160,Selectors of the parent members of the CCHS shall be the three PA/PTA officers mandated by Chancellor’s Regulation A-660 from every high school in the borough. Officers of PAs/PTAs who are candidates in the selection process shall not be eligible to cast votes in such selection process. The PA/PTA shall select a member to vote in the place of each such officer for the purposes of the selection process. In the case of co-presidents, co-secretaries, or co-treasurers, the remaining members of the PA/PTA executive board will determine which co-officer will serve as a selector.

Citywide Council on English Language Learners
In accordance with Chancellor’s Regulation D-170, the Presidents’ Council for each community school district and borough and for District 75 shall each select one parent of an ELL student from among its members to serve as a selector of CCELL members. In the event that there is no parent of an ELL student on the Presidents’ Council, the Presidents’ Council shall solicit parents of ELL students from the district or borough to volunteer to serve as a selector. Such Presidents’ Council shall select from among those volunteers one parent to serve as a selector of CCELL members. Parents who are candidates for the CCELL shall not be eligible to serve as selectors.

Citywide Council on Special Education
In accordance with Chancellor’s Regulation D-150, the Presidents’ Council for each community school district and borough and for District 75 shall select one parent of a student with an IEP from among its members to serve as a selector of CCSE members. In the event that there is no parent of a student with an IEP on the Presidents’ Council, the Presidents’ Council shall solicit parents of students with an IEP from the district, or borough in the case of high schools, to volunteer to serve as a selector. Such Presidents’ Council shall select from among those volunteers one parent to serve as a selector of CCSE members. Parents who are candidates for the CCSE shall not be eligible to serve as selectors.
